Description
Santa Fe National Forest rolls across high-desert mesa country west of Cuba, and USFS Road 88 cuts south from Highway 550 into open piñon-juniper terrain with multiple pullouts along its length. The access track is rutted and uneven — high clearance is advisable, and the road turns treacherous when wet — but a first flat spot just off the highway suits smaller rigs, while those willing to push a mile or two further find more room and more quiet. A network of forest roads spreads from here, passable by gravel bike or on foot for a morning stretch before moving on.
