Rob Jagger's Campground — Fort Stanton Snowy River Cave National Conservation Area

Cave explorers and trail hikers will find a functional base camp at Rob Jagger's Campground, situated on BLM land near Fort Stanton's underground attractions. The campground operates as an open gravel lot with full hookups, accommodating RVs of any size on level pull-through sites. Each site includes water and electric connections for $20 nightly, with an additional dump station available.

Recent improvements in 2021 updated the facilities, though campers describe the layout as essentially a large parking area with minimal shade. Several sites feature small horse corrals for rent. Cell service remains spotty throughout the area. The camp host provides basic assistance, and payment occurs at the day-use information station. Campers seeking a more forested setting can explore campgrounds near Capitan for alternative terrain options.

Guests commonly noted the $20 full hookup sites with easy RV access and peaceful atmosphere. Many appreciated the gravel sites for easy leveling, though some found the open layout lacking shade and character.

Right time right place

It really is just a big parking lot. Pit toilet water and electric. There's an extra fee to use the dump station 20 bucks a night for full service. Thing is it's perfect if you're here in the winter and you don't want any shade and you want to hike all the trails without any traffic it's terrific for that. Pretty sure I can work from my level parking spot for the week and there's enough exploring to be done that I shouldn't run out of things to do. Barely barely barely have cell phone service but I seem to be connected and with very little traffic on it it seems to be okay.

Quiet and peaceful

Sites are gravel and nice. Very easy to level up. Several pull thru sites. Any size rig can fit. Some horse corrals available. Very clean and safe. Very little traffic noise and actually very few people around. Extremely quiet. Camp host came by just to make sure we had what we needed. Water and electric at site plus a nice dump station for only $20.
