Rattle River Trailhead — White Mountain NF

Description

This White Mountain National Forest trailhead parking lot sits along a highway corridor near Shelburne, NH, serving as the jump-off for the Appalachian Trail toward Rattle River Shelter a couple miles in. The lot is plowed in winter, fits a dozen or more vehicles including small-to-medium rigs, and carries no posted prohibition on overnight stays. Highway noise from passing trucks is a constant presence through the night, easing only slightly before picking back up around dawn.
