Three free dispersed sites sit along Route 16 between Rangeley and Stratton, positioned on the left side of the road just past the bridge over the Dead River. No fee applies. A fire permit is required for campfires, but otherwise campers can pull in without advance registration. Anglers and paddlers with interest in campgrounds near Rangeley will find this stretch of the Dead River a practical base. Rangeley Lake State Park Campground offers a developed alternative roughly eight miles southwest.
