Best Equestrian Camping near Temple, NH

Temple, New Hampshire offers limited options for horse camping in the surrounding region. While several campgrounds exist within driving distance, none of the listed facilities specifically advertise horse corrals or dedicated equestrian amenities. Ramblewood Cabins and Campground, located in Pittsburg, accepts pets but does not indicate specific horse facilities. Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park in Derry spans 1300 acres with numerous camping sites, though it does not permit pets, which would preclude horses. Tippicanoe Campground allows pets and provides full hookup sites, but lacks documented equestrian facilities or corral space.

Equestrians planning camping trips near Temple must contact campgrounds directly to confirm horse accommodation policies. The lack of advertised horse corrals, wash stations, or designated equine areas suggests most standard campgrounds may not be equipped for horses. Trail riders should investigate state parks within reasonable trailering distance, as these often provide better equestrian accommodations than private campgrounds. Seasonal considerations affect availability, with most New Hampshire campgrounds operating from May through October. Campers traveling with horses typically need facilities that can accommodate larger rigs and trailers, which Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park mentions as being "big-rig friendly."

Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park

Family-owned campground with lots to do

This campground is 1300 acres owned and operated by the Simonsen family in Derry, NH. The main attraction of this campground is the golf course of 9 or 18 holes. There is a pro shop, golf cart rentals, etc. There are 300 camping sites with full hookups. Very reasonably priced at $40 per night. A lot of the campers are seasonal which is May - October each year. I did not see any tents there, only hard-sided units. The amenities are state of the art, clean laundry center, restrooms, bath house, grocery store, bar & grill, playground & 2 swimming beaches. We had interactions with both Drew & Lauri Simonsen (brother & Sister) during our 2 night stay. Our generator was down and we needed to pick up our friend at the airport. Lauri loaned us her minivan to go to the airport and Drew loaned us some tools to work on the RV. They were so helpful and treated us like family. The kids were given a lot of grace and hung out in the grill/game room area for hours on end to use the wi-fi. I can't say enough about the customer service here. Anyone in this area should check it out.

Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park

Pleasant staff, but campsite was unimpressive

The staff were friendly and helpful. We spent one night and did not visit any of the facilities, but all looked clean and well staffed.

Unfortunately, I can’t give high marks to our campsite. The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services. The site had very long grass, bare rock and mud. It was not a site we would have wanted to stay on any longer than the one night.

    Tippicanoe Campground

    Clean Family Fun

This campground is run by a very pleasant couple who take great pride in this property. Everything is immaculatefrom the bathrooms, shower, clubhouse, store and grounds so you can relax and know that the kids are safe and you will be stress-freefor your stay. Many seasonal campers have been here for years and keep coming back for the friends and activities. Tthe sites all have water, 50amp and sewer hookups. Very few tenting, mostly RVs on the well laid out grounds where you are not far from the beautiful beach, trout stocked pond and all ammenities. Come here and enjoy yourself with no worries. Rand Pond is the body of water at the campground and is restricted to under 10 HP boats. It is stocked with rainbow trout by the State of NH and is a spring fed sandy bottom pond.

What to do

What campers like

Spacious campsites with views: Ramblewood Cabins and Campground receives praise for its site layout. Anne G. mentions, "We have stayed here a few times and really enjoyed sites and hospitality!" The campground offers visual appeal with mountain vistas not commonly highlighted in standard campground listings.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention the maintenance standards at Tippicanoe Campground. One camper states, "Everything is immaculate from the bathrooms, shower, clubhouse, store and grounds so you can relax and know that the kids are safe and you will be stress-free for your stay." This attention to cleanliness differentiates certain facilities from others in the region.

On-site dining options: The convenience of food service appeals to many visitors at Hidden Valley. Shawn C. notes, "On site general store with grill. Fishing and swimming on property along with a club house." These amenities reduce the need to leave the campground for meals or supplies.

What you should know

Hookup placement challenges: Site layouts can affect camping experience. At Hidden Valley, one camper reported: "The water and electric were between our site and the next on one side and sewer between our site and the one on the other side. This made it difficult to place our trailer on the slanted site and reach all services." Preparing extension cords and longer hoses can help address these challenges.

Seasonal population: Many campgrounds maintain a core of long-term campers. As observed at Tippicanoe, "Many seasonal campers have been here for years and keep coming back for the friends and activities." This creates a community atmosphere but may affect availability for short-term visitors.

Site conditions vary: Ground surface quality differs across campgrounds and even within sites. One reviewer noted at Hidden Valley: "The site had very long grass, bare rock and mud. It was not a site we would have wanted to stay on any longer than the one night." Requesting specific site information before booking helps avoid disappointment.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Hidden Valley RV and Golf Park provides playground facilities that complement other recreational options. According to reviews, the playground areas are maintained alongside other amenities, allowing parents to establish a base while children explore supervised play areas.

WiFi availability for teens: Connectivity can maintain peace during family camping trips. One family reported: "The kids were given a lot of grace and hung out in the grill/game room area for hours on end to use the wi-fi." This amenity helps balance outdoor activities with modern connectivity needs.

Stocked camp stores: On-site provisions reduce travel needs with children. Multiple campgrounds maintain markets with basic supplies, allowing families to address forgotten items or unexpected needs without extended drives from camp.

Tips from RVers

Full-hookup availability: Tippicanoe Campground provides comprehensive services for self-contained units. A reviewer notes, "The sites all have water, 50amp and sewer hookups." This level of service eliminates the need for dump station visits during extended stays.

Big rig accommodation varies: While some campgrounds advertise as big-rig friendly, site dimensions and access roads differ significantly. Calling ahead with specific length measurements helps avoid difficult arrivals or departures, particularly with horse trailers or fifth-wheel combinations.

Assistance from staff: Service levels can enhance the camping experience. At Hidden Valley, one RVer shared: "Our generator was down and we needed to pick up our friend at the airport. Lauri loaned us her minivan to go to the airport and Drew loaned us some tools to work on the RV." This level of personal attention can be particularly valuable for equestrian campers dealing with vehicle or trailer issues.
