Historic Santosh Ranch in Yerington, NV

Rustic corrals, workshop, barn and ranch land only a stone's throw away from Yerington and other features in the Mason Valley. The historic Santosh Ranch is surrounding a 3,700 s/f warehouse "Shop" with a hot water indoor shower and propane BBQ upon request. The Ecozoic bio-filter toilet is avalable to all Dyrt campers, and is located next to the old barn on the camping side. We are walking distance to Lyon County Fairgrounds (kitty corner across the highway), the town of Yerington (one mile) and the Night in the Country location (two miles).

There are a half dozen corrals and a few animal shelters, but they have not housed animals for over a decade. Dyrt car campers can choose to back into one of the corral areas to have fenced off privacy, especially those with pets. They can also use the animal shelters as shade or to hang a hammock. The front half north of the irrigation canal is reserved for car camping, and the southern half around the Shop is best for RVs. All areas have a turnaround radios for larger vehicles. There are a pair of picnic tables and tree stump benches in the various camping / RV areas.

There is a fire pit behind the Shop that can only be used by the owner when it is not high-risk fire season. Also a gas stove BBQ in the shop. Both can be used upon request. We are in a high risk fire zone, so no personal fires or BBQs any time.

Other things to note:

This bucolic and historical ranch is located on the eastern edge of the county seat Yerington, NV. It is close enough to walk or bike ride on country roads to town or the venue for Night in the Country, but far enough away to be tranquil and quiet. The Lyon Country Fairgrounds is located kitty corner only a 10 minute walk on a dirt road. The front four acres are the historic corrals and perfectly flat for camping. The brand new Ecozoic toilet on site has electricity for the fan and lights. The back four acres surrounding the big silver workshop are also flat and can accommodate a dozen RVs. There are no hook-ups, however. Guests can have access to hot showers in the shop and a hot tub in season when the workshop is open. Non-potable water from our well is available.

There are relics from the 19th and 20th century when the Santosh Ranch was a working farm and ranching property. There is also the frame of one of the first automobiles ever built! The wheel spokes and the frame are made of wood, but the chassis where the engine once rested is made of steel. It is located next to the Ecozoic toilet.
