Whitetail Campground

Whitetail Campground operates year-round within Nebraska National Forest, managed by the US Forest Service near Halsey. The campground sits close to a river and provides basic amenities including toilets, picnic tables, and designated fire rings. Pets are welcome throughout the site.

Campers can access Bessey Dispersed, FR203 Circle Rd three miles northwest for a more primitive camping experience. The forest setting works well for visitors seeking a simple base camp with essential facilities and year-round availability.

Directions

From Dunning, NE, take State Rt. 2 west 10 miles to Halsey, NE. Continue straight on Rt. 2 1.1 miles to Nebraska National Forest Recreation Area sign (State Spur 86B). Turn left onto State Spur 86B and go 3.1 miles to Whitetail campground sign (Forest Rt. 203). Turn left onto Rt. 203 (sand and dirt) and go 7.8 miles to another Whitetail campground sign (Forest Rt. 277). Turn left onto Rt. 277 and go 3 miles to campground.
