Langohr Campground is located in scenic Hyalite Canyon on the Bozeman Ranger District of the Gallatin National Forest. It is located just 12 miles south of Bozeman, Mont. The surrounding area offers many outdoor recreational opportunities, including fishing, hiking and climbing.
Hyalite Creek provides great fishing for Yellowstone cutthroat, Arctic grayling and brook trout. Many hiking trails can be found in Hyalite Canyon.
The campground sits next to Hyalite Creek, at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Most campsites are situated in open meadows along the creek. Some are located among scattered pine and fir trees.
Hyalite Reservoir is just 3.5 miles from the campground. The scenic 206-acre lake offers many recreational activities, including boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, climbing and picnicking. The popular Hyalite Peak Trail begins near the reservoir. The 7.5-mile one-way trail gains 3,450 feet in elevation as is climbs past numerous waterfalls to beautiful Hyalite Lake and Peak.

Spanish Creek Cabin was constructed in 1934 and retains much of its rustic character from that time. The cabin is available year-round and offers an excellent base camp for a variety of summer and winter recreation opportunities. It is adjacent to a popular trailhead and a campground. Guests may drive to the cabin during summer months. During the winter (December 2nd through May 15th) the access road is gated 3.5 miles from the cabin and guest should be prepared to hike, bike, ski or snowshoe to the cabin. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.
A nearby trailhead provides access to a network of trails that head south into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness and west into non-wilderness areas.The trails can be used by hikers, equestrians, snowshoers and cross-country skiers. Trails also lead to Little Hell Roaring Creek, the north end of the Madison Range and the South Fork of Spanish Creek. This area also offers opportunities for fishing and hunting.
The cabin sits at the base of the Lee Metcalf Wilderness, in a large meadow, at an elevation of 6,200 feet. Wildflowers add bursts of color around the cabin each summer. Wapiti Cabin is a primitive, rustic, log structure open year-round for recreational enjoyment. It provides access to several trails for summer hiking and biking, and winter skiing and snowmobiling. The cabin can be accessed by vehicle in warmer weather, but snow conditions may require a six mile trek on skis, snowshoes, or by snowmobile. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and they must bring several of their own amenities.
The junction of Taylor Fork Road and Wapiti Creek offers several trailheads leading into the Cabin Creek Wildlife Management Area. Mountain bikers will find several route options in the Wapiti Loops in Taylor Fork, including a 14-mile route that begins at the cabin. For winter sports enthusiasts, the Big Sky Snowmobile Trail is within 2 miles of the cabin, and it offers some of Montana's best backcountry snowmobiling. The area around Wapiti Creek also offers good terrain for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The cabin is open to stock, and there is a corral available for horses. A hitching rail surrounds the cabin for stock use. Please keep in mind that fall hunting season brings big game hunters to this area.
Wapiti Cabin is situated inbetween the Madison Mountain Range and the Gallatin Mountain Range at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Beyond the meadow, guests at the cabin can see dense stands of evergreens and rugged mountain ridges. Wapiti Creek flows nearby. The area around Wapiti Cabin is grizzly bear habitat, but it's also home to deer, elk, moose, and other wildlife.

Windy Pass Cabin was built in 1934. It provides a rustic mountain retreat with few amenities, so guests need to bring most of their own supplies and gear to make their experience comfortable and enjoyable. The cabin is available from June 16th through October 14th each year. It is accessible via a 2.5-mile hike or horseback ride up the Windy Pass Trail with an elevation gain of 1,300 feet.
The Windy Pass Trail passes by the cabin and takes hikers and equestrians along the ridge and down through the Gallatin Range. Several other trails crisscross the area, including the Gallatin Crest Trail. Hunting in designated areas is also a popular activity.
Windy Pass Cabin is located near the Gallatin Crest at approximately 8,900 feet in the Gallatin Mountains. A small stream flows just below it. High alpine meadows dotted with evergreens surround the cabin and fill with colorful wildflowers in July. A short walk to the top of the Gallatin Crest offers views of the distant snow-dusted peaks of the Absarokas and the Yellowstone River to the east and the Madison Range to the west. Grizzly bear, gray wolf, mountain lion, deer, elk, moose, bighorn sheep and the Canada lynx are some of the wildlife that inhabit this area. Birders may see a wide variety of bird species.

This is a fantastic campground with lots of empty sites along Taylor Creek. The site I stayed at had a fire pit with lots of room to setup a tent or camper if you’re interested. Lots of distance between each campsite and again, a pretty valley view with a beautiful creek.

I visited this lake last week. I love it and slope game. The water is pristine and visually appealing with no obstructions like stumps or logs, as mentioned earlier. The lake underwent complete drainage and dredging. It has been populated with eight different types of fish. I recently reeled in two bass weighing 2-3 pounds each. My wife has successfully caught numerous quality channel catfish. This lake is quite lovely. However, the landing area is shallow, restricting the launch of large bass boats.
ScoutWe stayed one night on our way back from Yellowstone. My RTT was perfect for this. There was a small corral for horses and plenty of room for a horse trailer and truck.

This is a great place in Montana. Easy access. Right outside Dillon MT. We stayed here one night and then the the Lewis and Clark Limestone Cavern tour. It is about an hour. Camp ground is super clean and all the sites are very easy to access. Very nice hosts.

ScoutThe sites are good sized and easy to pull through. Gravel road in good condition. No trees and in a wide open location. Water was available but not yet turned on so we could not hook up. Electric was fine. It did have sewer but we did not use it. Bathrooms were very small with curtain stalls that hit your knees. Sorry, I don’t remember seeing showers. This location is beautiful but can be very windy. We were there on a very windy night. Grounds seemed in good condition.

Cute, clean cabin. Sleeps four, a bunk bed and two more beds in a loft. Creek was running in winter, can hear it at night with the window open a crack. 4 mile ski in from the gate with some gentle up and down grades, traveling on an unplowed road. Easy to find. Comfortable and beautiful scenery, hiking trails near by.
ScoutOur site for our pop up was basically a little dirt pull through along the main road. No shade, no privacy, and a barely accessible path to the creek. And nowhere to sit/enjoy the creek.
Unless your site is directly on the creek seriously don't bother.
RangerAn absolutely stunning area to camp. A relatively challenging nine-mile-hike in from the Spanish Creek campground. Turn left at the trail map and follow the well marked signs. You’ll have stunning views of the mountains, rivers, and pines on your hike in. A few other places to camp on the way in. You’ll cross a couple rivers—so be prepared to take off those boots. Once arriving at the top; you’ll find a stunning array of crystal lakes, snow melts, and glistening cliffs. We camped on top of a large cliff system across the first lake. As you hike in, there are multiple little lakes to camp and fish around. The highest lake (about 100 meters past the first) is indescribably breathtaking. Surrounded by massive mountains, a rolling stream, and a little dead forest accompanied by a campsite and fire ring—AH! I felt like I was in a simulation. Apparently you can summit the nearby mountains and reached a higher lake called Beehive. My friends went and said they enjoyed it. Tons of fishing in all of the lakes. Diverse wildflowers. Tons of bugs. But all great fun! Will certainly return when I go back to Montana.
RangerStayed here with my sister one night before we hiked up to Spanish Lakes! Follow a long gravel road to the picnic area. Tons of pic nic tables and spots to set up. Creek not too far away for purifying water. There’s a very clean restroom and two different trail heads. We just camped by our car and packed up in the morning and hiked. Very basic all ya need here folks! Pretty views as well
RangerThis place is indescribable. To get there you drive into the Spanish Creek Picnic area. Then you follow the trails on the map to Spanish Lakes. The trails are pretty well marked. It’s about 9.5 miles in and up. The first 4.5 miles are super chill and flat. You’ll cruise through those. You cross over some beautiful bridges over roaring streams. Couple streams didn’t have bridges so we had to lose our boots for those crossings. Then there is a gradual uphill and the last 2 miles are pretty brutal. Eventually, you reach the first lake and you’re like WHAAATT and your jaw is dropping. Mt. Blaze is up to your left and all around are other stunning peaks. The lake is crystal clear and cold. Tons of west slope cutthroat trout that get flown in. There is a ~ 40 ft cliff you can jump off of into the super deep water. We camped just above that spot at a fire ring overlooking the lake. But if you go up to the second and third lakes there are even better spots. Truly a magical place. Definitely make it worth it and stay at least two nights if the weather is good!
RangerPlenty of dispersed drive in camping sites at the Spanish Creeks Trailhead. Many lots, solid roads, picnic tables, fire rings, and clean facilities. Great signage nestled behind the trees at the start of the trail. Water and a nice bathroom available. A cute little creek nestled along the side of the campground—making for good morning music. Stunning mountain views from the campsites. Head down the canyon trail a little bit to view some stunning meadows. All around a great spot if you’re looking to hit the trails early the next day!

We stayed at Lake Shore Lodge Campground while visiting my parents in Ennis.
The campground is situated right on the northern shore of Ennis Lake and has a boat launch ramp for those looking to fish.
We stayed three nights at the beginning of July. Our site had water, sewer, and 30amp service. We were able to fit our 39ft toy hauler in with almost no issues.
The campground is very peaceful and appears to have a lot of seasonal residents.
Wood and ice are available from the front desk. Bath houses and laundry are also available on site.

Yellowstone National Parks back country campsite WF1 sits on the edge of a large meadow of wildflowers with amazing views of the mountains to the west. Campsite WF1 is the first back country site along Black Butte Trail in the North West corner of the park. It is about a 2.2 mile hike to the campsite from the trail head. Campsite WF1 is open to backpackers and stock animals, however I could see no evidence of any stock animals using this site recently. The site has a large rock fire ring in the cooking area with logs sitting around it to sit on. An arrow on a tree with the site number points to the sites toilet just up hill in the trees. Don't get to excited about the toilet, think of an outhouse with out any walls, and the hole in the ground is not very deep, but a back country site with a seat to sit on is a rare treat. Just on the other side of the large trees at the cooking area is a meadow full of wildflowers, the meadow slopes downhill making a flat area in the field for your tent hard to find, but you can find spots at the edge of the field just in the trees with flat spots for your tent. Water is no problem at this site, the creek is just next to the cooking area, best spot to filter the water is right where you cross to enter the campsite.
Black Butte Trail head(WK2) is located on U.S. Hwy 191. The trail head is easy to miss, the sign for the tail is on the east side of the Highway where the trail starts, the parking area is just south of the sign on the west side of the highway. You will need to obtain a back country permit to stay at WF1. The closest place to obtain a permit is at the visitor center in West Yellowstone. The cost is$3 per person with a maximum of$15 for the night. Site is limited to one group of ten.
GuideAbout 20 minutes south of Bozeman, MT on scenic Hyalite Canyon Road sits Langohr Campground. There are 19 spacious single sites and the 20th site is a group picnic site for day use. Langohr Campground runs along Hyalite Creek and is tucked inside Custer Gallatin National Forest in a small open meadow with Douglas fir, Lodgepole pine, and Englemann Spruce.
I was fortunate to find a campsite as a walk-in even after arriving mid-afternoon at the beginning of June 2019 because it was too late to reserve online. Each site does have a picnic table and fire ring, and electrical sites are available. Some are drive-in or back into sites, and a few are literally next to Hyalite Creek which is an added bonus. A heavy snowfall occurred a week before and remnants of it were scattered along the campground. Good thing I brought a snow scraper to clear the picnic table of snow. The fee is $20.00 per campsite for two vehicles and $8.00 for any additional vehicles. The group picnic site is $45.00 for day use. I paid cash for the site, but I believe you may also pay by credit card.
Many of the campers were settling in and had parked RVs and pop-ups. Pets are allowed but must be on a leash as wildlife such as bears, deers, moose, and elk frequent the area. Bear lockers should be used for food storage or properly stored in vehicles. There are huge bear safe trash and recycling containers near the entrance for campers to use. The bathroom is clean, free of odor and bugs, and it is a vault toilet. There are no showers, dump station, or camp store, but you are close to Bozeman. The camp host was settled on site 11 and sells firewood for $6.00. You can take a walk along the Hyalite Creek or drive 3.5 miles south down to Hyalite Reservoir for other activities such as fishing, kayaking, canoeing, climbing, hiking, and boating. The night sky was pretty spectacular especially with the trees around on a clear day.

This is a great spot located right below the ride in a little valley. The hike to get there isn’t to bad but the drive to the trail head can be a bit of a challenge. Nice size cabin with an out house and a nice size fire pit out front. Lots of room out side the cabin for tents and fire wood is provided. Get up early and hike up to the ridge and good chance you’ll see some mountain goats!

My friends, my girls and I have stayed here on multiple occasions and "The Cinnamon" never disappoints! With awesome hosts and a great restaurant, we didn't need to leave to have fun. They have several cabins that are on the Gallatin River, so serene and peaceful... They offer a zipline for the kids and often have "wildlife" on the premises (goats, horses, musicians).
Yellowstone's West Entrance is 37 miles south; Big Sky is 6 miles north. The Bozeman Airport is the nearest airport.
LegendLangohr Campground is a nice campground besides Hyalite Creek, it was even better when I camped here about 20 years ago during the summer months, this last visit was in the snow, but we won't let the snow affect this review. The campground has two different sections to it. While most sites overlook the willow lined Hyalite creek, turning to the left or the right once you enter the campground will give you different camping experiences. If you turn to the left you will find most of the campsites are in a grassy open area with little shade. If you want a campsite with two picnic tables a the site then go to the left as sites 17 and 18 have two tables each. If you turn to the right the campsites tucked in among a stand of pine trees and would provide lots of shade. The campground also has a large day use picnic area, and a trail head. The campground and parking pads are paved through out the campground. The campground has 19 sites, water, trash and service. This is bear territory so all food must be locked in a car or the provided bear proof lockers provided. Our October visit was after the mid September shutting down of the campground, but we could still gain access as their was not a closed gate like the other campgrounds further up the road, this was likely due to a trail head located in the campground.

We took site number 5 and I was extremely happy with it. it was peaceful and close to all the major hikes and waterfalls! The campground host was amazing! He brought us firewood and kept up to make sure every thing was okay!
