Dispersed camping at Homestake Lake Camp sits just off the interstate exit, roughly 8 miles from campgrounds around Butte, with easy drive-in access. The main area functions more as an open lot, and campers have noted the presence of other vehicles and partial car remains giving the spot an unconventional feel. Down the various two-track spurs, though, individual sites provide more shade and privacy. Verizon LTE runs 3-4 bars here, fire pits are available throughout, and the camp gives access to a couple of nearby lakes. It suits self-sufficient campers comfortable with a no-frills, unfacilitated setup.
