TravelerThis place is pretty neat. 12 permanent campsites each with a fire ring and picnic table. Potable water and vault toilets are also available on site. We stayed for a weekend and had the place to ourselves. Easy access to plenty of hiking and decent fishing. Definitely worth checking out.

The site has two vault toilets and five metal fire rings, several more rock fire rings are also available. Large cottonwoods provide shade and good locations to set up a hammock. Plenty of room to set up tents. Good hiking through a slot canyon is possible. Lewis and Clark camped near here on the other side of Eagle Creek on May 31, 1805.
LegendMany Pines campground lives up to its name, it sits in a area with many pines. This makes for plenty of privacy in most spots. Campsites are large and each has a picnic table and fire ring, a few have a BBQ grill or extra picnic table as well. Water is available. Campground has several vault toilets. Really like how some of the sites have stairs leading to your tent and campfire area. This is the best campground along U.S. 89. All the trees did a pretty good job of keeping the highway noise to a minimum. Campground has 24 first come first served campsites, and cost only $15. This is a Pack-In, Pack-out camp ground.
LegendKOA 8/24: The area we stayed in is for medium sized rigs or smaller. It was wooded and very nice for a KOA. The larger spaces are in a newer and less shady portion of the campground.

LegendAspen campground is a nice 6 site campground sitting among pine and aspen trees. The campground has one vault toilet and water is available. Was surprised to find no one else camping here on a weekend. Sites have plenty of room and each has a metal fire ring, BBQ grill and picnic table. The only bad thing about this campground is that it sits right along U.S. highway 89.

This is a major launch area for floating the Upper Missouri Rive Breaks National Monument. Very friendly camp staff with vast knowledge of the river.

To get to trail canoe down river another 0.8 mile, stopping at the first large cottonwood, you will find a trail here.
GuideWhen the directions include "drive down the dirt road for 20 miles," you know you are in for an amazing experience. Thain Creek Campground did not disappoint. The drive in and out is stunning hills, pastures, and meadows.
At the campground, there are about 15 sites. RVs and campers are welcome if they can survive the teeth jarring gravel road there. The campsite features vault toilets (very clean) and potable water, according to Ray, the camp host who drove through every evening to check on everyone. Each campsite has a huge picnic table and fire pit.
The trailhead for #431 is on the campgrounds and there are multiple routes you can take once you start. The path I followed for about 40 minutes opened into an incredible meadow with wildflowers.
There is a nearby creek. Birds chirp all day, woodpeckers peck all day, and at night, there were a couple of elk calls and at least two owls hooing back and forth. A wonderful getaway for your soul!
