Hiking and wildlife viewing draw campers into the Lewis & Clark National Forest along a five-to-six-mile gravel road with scattered potholes, though recent visitors found it drivable by standard vehicles. Timber Creek Dispersed Campground has at least five sites with established fire rings, two with picnic tables, and a mix of shaded and open areas spaced well apart. No water is available on-site, and the creek bed runs dry by June, so campers should arrive with a full supply. The vault toilet has been reported clean and stocked. No pets are permitted. Crowds are light on weekdays; holiday weekends can fill the campground, so arriving mid-week gives the best chance at an open site. Nearby, Crystal Lake Campground sits about five miles north for those planning a longer stay in the area.
