Total Boondoggin

About as close to desolate and isolated as your going to find. Fishing can be good but no shelter and you could bring in a camper and set up but the road in is nothing more than a large trail. If you like wide open vistas tho you're going to love this place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is Yellow Water Reservoir located in Montana?

Yellow Water Reservoir is located in one of Montana's most remote areas, characterized by vast, open prairie landscapes. The reservoir sits in an extremely isolated region of the state, making it an ideal destination for those seeking solitude and undeveloped wilderness. The location features wide open vistas with minimal development or infrastructure nearby. Access requires traveling on primitive roads that are essentially large trails, so proper preparation and a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.

What fishing opportunities are available at Yellow Water Reservoir?

Fishing at Yellow Water Reservoir can be productive, though the experience is defined by its wilderness setting. The reservoir offers good fishing opportunities for anglers willing to venture into this remote location. There are no fishing amenities, docks, or facilities on-site, so bring all necessary equipment and supplies. Be prepared for wide-open, exposed conditions with no shelter from sun or wind. The isolated nature means you'll likely have plenty of space and minimal competition from other anglers.

Are there camping facilities around Yellow Water Reservoir?

Yellow Water Reservoir offers primitive, undeveloped camping with absolutely no facilities or amenities. There are no designated campsites, restrooms, water sources, or established camping areas. Visitors can bring in campers or set up tents in suitable spots around the reservoir, but should be prepared for truly primitive conditions. The access road is essentially a large trail, limiting the size of campers or RVs that can safely reach the area. This location is ideal for self-sufficient campers who value extreme isolation and are fully prepared for backcountry camping.
