Primitive

Word of caution with this 3 site fishing access for couple of reasons. Stopped there 9/20/20 late afternoon when the wind was blowing very hard out of the north. First caution before I would go back again would make sure I have the chain saw with me. There are couple big half dead cotton wood trees that could come down. Cotton wood trees rot from the inside out and good wind will bring them down.

But it was great stop for few hours listening to the wind in the trees with color change of the leaves. Black foot river was running low and clear but enough water for a floater had put in early in the day.

Second caution if one would come in the early spring park by the vault then walk down to the camp grounds. The three sites show signs of heavy damage when spring run off comes high water has cut deep ruts that could make it difficult getting turned around etc.

SiteFirst come if open would take #1 could be a little tricky backing into.

Camp and fish on the Blackfoot river

Harry Morgan Fishing Access Site provides fishing access to the Blackfoot River and is a small three site campground. If you want a nice quiet camping and fishing trip then you might just want to consider Harry Morgan FAS. Three sites mean that their will not many will be at the campground at any one time, even less when you consider that this site is a dry campground and you will need to take your trash with you. The three sites are well spread apart. Each site has a picnic table and metal fire ring. The campground has one small vault toilet. The FAS has a boat launch, only non-motorized boat use is allowed on the Blackfoot river. On my visit only one other vehicle was at the site and they where their only for a short time fishing, so after about an hour I had the site to myself. This is bear country so you will need to make sure that everything is stored in your vehicle or use the campgrounds one bear proof food locker.
