Fishing and swimming on the Yellowstone River draw campers to this dispersed site within the Far West Fishing Access Site, managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks. A quarter-mile dirt road leads in from the highway, and reviewers report it is well-maintained. Around ten campsites are spread across the area, with spots situated near a pond and others closer to the river, giving campers some choice in how close they want to be to the water.
Amenities are basic but functional. Each site includes a picnic table and a fire pit with a cooking grill, and a vault toilet is available on-site. Cell service is listed as available, which is worth noting for a site this far out in eastern Montana. Jeremiah B. describes it as "lots of spots around pond and along river," and midweek visits tend to see light use, with only a handful of other campers arriving even during summer.
Bugs can be significant, particularly in late spring and early summer, so insect repellent is worth packing. The grass is mowed regularly, and the facilities have been noted as clean across multiple recent visits. Anglers planning a multi-day stretch along the Yellowstone might also consider Wagon Wheel Campground or Rosebud East as nearby alternatives. Arriving on a weekday gives the best chance of securing one of the few sites with direct water access.
