Craig FAS provides 10 camping sites managed by Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks along the Missouri River. This fishing access campground serves as a major launch point for float fishing and canoeing, with boat access directly from the site.

The campground fills quickly during peak fishing season, with several sites positioned close to the river offering shade during summer months. Dexter I. notes it's "very busy during the summer" as anglers use this as a primary put-in location. Sites remain clean and well-maintained, with two vault toilets serving the area - one within the campground and another at the fishing access point. Some highway noise from I-15 carries into the campground.

Water availability appears inconsistent, with recent visitors reporting difficulty locating water sources. The adjacent town of Craig offers dining options, including a restaurant and bar directly behind the campground. Wade fishing opportunities exist nearby for those without boats. Private property borders the back of the campground.

Campers can explore additional Missouri River access at Stickney Creek Fishing Access Site or Wolf Creek Bridge. This location works best for anglers and paddlers seeking convenient river access, though the busy boat launch means quieter camping experiences may be found elsewhere during peak season.

Convenient and basic

Couldn't camp as it was full on a Thursday in June. Couldn't find and was told there's no water. Very, very busy landing for fishing boats. The town alongside it (Craig) has a nice restaurant / bar and a brew pub.

Great in the off season

Craig Fishing Access campground 10 sites. Unseasonably warm, beautiful early spring day by the Missouri River. There are no campers, but the sites are clean, seem to be well taken care of. One vault in the campground another at the vault at the fishing access to the front of the campground. Private property in the back of the campground several campsites close to the river are shaded which in the summer would be perfect. Some noise from I-15.

SiteWe were out for nice warm spring drive but will be back in April to camp.

Riverfront in Craig

As a travelor, we were unaware of the Fishing Access Camping areas along the Missouri. We were fortunate to find a spot. Inexpensive. We don't fish, but really enjoy watching others. There is one bar in Craig. Don't go! Guy treated us like dirt. There is a really really nice restaurant and bar right behind the CG that is amazing. The owner chef came out to visit with us and was willing to go off menu and make me a vegan option. 😋
