Kayaking enthusiasts will find direct access to the water below Sam Rayburn Reservoir's dam at Long Branch. This US Army Corps of Engineers campground charges $10 per night and provides drinking water, restrooms, and a dump station. The forested setting accommodates RVs and tents, with campfires and pets allowed throughout the grounds.

One reviewer noted restrictions on battery-powered recreational vehicles like scooters on campground roads. The layout appears designed with older campers in mind, though fishing remains accessible from the shoreline. Campers can make reservations in advance or explore campgrounds just outside Oakland for additional options in the area.

Peaceful

This campground is beautiful.  Right below the dam.  Great for kayaking.  Seems to be set up for older campers.  They wouldn't let my  10 year old son ride his scooter on the road because it was battery operated.
