The Best Grand Marais Campgrounds | MN Camping

We stayed at this campground over July 4th weekend, so every other campground was completely booked. But state and national forest campgrpunds are first come first serve which worked out prefect as we got there early and snagged a site! There are 38 sites at this campground, however about 30 of them I'd only rate a 3\. If you go look for one of the lake view sites, they are BEAUTIFUL! With a nice breeze coming off the lake, many with their own personal beach on your site! If you don't get a lakeview site the rest is just your basic small plot of grass, picnic table, and fire ring. We went in July so the mosquitoes were pretty bad, but with a Lakeview site the breeze coming off the lake kept most of them away! If you have a canoe, kayak, or boat this campground is perfect for you!!

It was awesome site 10 is GREAT!!! Lakeview own beach and close to outhouse! Also take drive and go to eagle mountain while there its about 10 minutes down road!!! Pics are from there cause my phone died after lol! Great spot.

Great stay 

This was our first time staying at Two Island Lake Campground. We spent the first part of the week further up the Gunflint and wanted to find someplace new for the second part of the week. We got to the campground on a Wednesday and there were only 2 other sites taken so we pretty much had our pick of sites. We ended up in site #34\. Along with a couple other sites it is at the end of the third loop of the campground. The site was long and very roomy. Several places to put up tents or plenty of room for a camper. There is also a nice trail back to the lake with a nice flat area at the end for sitting and enjoying the view or for storing your canoe/kayaks. When we first arrived to the campground we had no neighbors and it was very quiet and peaceful. However it seems that this must be a very popular campground because before long we had neighbors on both sides. Fortunately the campsites are well surrounded by trees on all sides and we rarely heard or saw our neighbors.

We were also happy that this campground is only about 15 minutes away from Grand Marais as we had a rainy day and we went into town to relax and play tourist.

We stayed here from Wednesday thru Saturday and as we left on Saturday we drove thru the campground and found that only 2 or 3 empty sites remained. We will most definitely be staying at this campground again but we will remember to go in the middle of the week as it seems to fill up quickly on the weekends!

We'll be back to this one! 

Its another quiet lake campground, rustic and nice. Each campsite is private some more than others and some are a hike short distance to throw up a tent. I like this campground, its cheap, you can go in the lake and swim or fish. The bathrooms here are rather nice, and its fun to walk all around the area.

 Nice get away 

Simple campground that did not have a ton of people when we stayed so it was pretty quiet at night. Had a great view of the stars and really enjoyed the peace. Fishing was good the one day we paddles, but there were a couple of boats out on the water. Had some great variety in the sites. I would stay in 32/33/34 first then look at 8/10/22/23.

Clean, Rustic, Quiet, and Good Fising

When everything along the north shore was full up, this campground had 25 open sites! They were beautiful and spread out over several big loops. Clean toilettes, accessible boat launch on lake, potable water, trash and recycling area… a total gem!
