Free and hike-in only, Flooded Woods Campsite sits roughly a mile and a half from a parking area along the North Country Trail in Rochert, Minnesota. The site is set about 30 yards off the trail, marked by a carved wooden sign, which gives it more privacy than sites positioned directly on the route. Amenities are minimal: a fire ring, tent pad, log bench, and a basic latrine. The adjacent water view shifts toward swampy conditions by late summer. Campers wanting full-service amenities will find a different setup at Tamarac Resort and Campground, located to the west.
Description
This campsite is located on a very large Flooded Woods. To get to the campsite, go to the Elbow Lake Road Trailhead and hike south. Flooded woods always seem really creepy and murky, and this one is no exception. The campsite itself is really nice with grassy tent pads and a nice campfire area.
