Managed by the MIDNR Wildlife Division within the Gladwin Game Unit, Trout Lake State Forest Campground runs three loops, two of which sit directly on the water. Sites range from large to cramped and some have uneven surfaces, so arriving early gives campers the best pick. The campground accommodates RVs up to 40 feet and provides drinking water, toilets, and picnic tables. Cell service is available. Four lakes cluster close together here, making the area a practical base for kayaking and canoeing. House Lake State Forest Campground sits roughly a half-mile north for those wanting a nearby alternative. Noise after 10pm has been noted by at least one visitor, so light sleepers may want to plan accordingly.
