Timbers Edge Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available at Timbers Edge Campground, a drive-in facility outside Hesperia that draws a notably horse-oriented crowd. Electric and water hookups are included in the site rate, which at least one camper found reasonable for what's provided. Sites run on the larger side, and a pond on the property gives dog owners a natural loop for walking. No cell service should be expected here.

The campground has a history of hosting equestrian weekends, and horses and hunters are a regular presence, particularly on weekends. Noise levels can vary. One reviewer noted dirtbikes and ATVs creating dust and sound, and suggested premium sites may offer more separation. The shower facilities have hot water but the shower room itself is unheated, which matters more during shoulder-season stays. Pit toilets serve the campground rather than flush facilities.

Management has been described in conflicting terms across reviews. Earlier visitors reported friendly hosts, while a more recent account from Marta B. describes a confrontation over horses tied to a trailer, noting that "normal function for horseman is to ride from trailer." Campers with horses should clarify expectations with staff before arrival.

Minnie Pond Campground and Benton Lake Campground are both within a few miles and offer alternatives for those who want a different setup.

Campers regularly cited the spacious lots as a major plus, though noise from ATVs and close neighbors was a recurring complaint. Management feedback varied significantly between friendly service and confrontational interactions.

Owner very rude and disrespectful

Run down campground with rude disrespectful owner. We were attacked over something that was so trivial...a few hoof prints by our trailer where we we told to park. Horses did not dig or paw. She drove up to us and complained that they tore up her grass, which wasn't true. There was no grass to begin with, it was moss. Our ponied stood quietly tied to trailer as we saddled up and then when we came back from our rife and unsaddled.  We were with them the entire time....it was a short day ride with a friend who was camping there. Woman never asked or told us to picket. Normal function  for horseman is to ride from trailer. I Just couldn't believe it. Told woman we understood and would be leaving and wouldn't be back. She kept running her mouth. I told her to drop it and that again, we would leave and would not be back. Kept running her mouth, and Id had enough and told her to shut up.

Nice for horses and hunting

I went in November. Most campers were there on the weekend. Pit toilets, a pond, hot showers but shower room unheated, no dump station, nice size lots. A lot of horses and hunters. Price was good for electric and water. Nice for dog walking. Friendly managers. No cell service

Don't do it!

Neighbors right on top of you. Dirtbikes n 4 wheelers flying around causing dust n access noise. Premium Sites might be the way to go though.

Quiet Getaway!

We stayed here during their Equestrian Weekends several years in a row, great hosts and large lots make this place a nice hidden gem!
