The Best Camping Near Mackinaw City, Michigan

This place is huge with a variety of sites.  Try to score one of the lakefront ones if you can! They have beautiful views.  Our site was fine for a night as we drove through. We booked last minute and didn’t have many sites to choose from as this place is popular!  Bathroom and showers were clean. Staff friendly.  

We would definitely stay again!

Huge campground! 

This campground is huge with many sites to choose from.   We traveled with two other families and chose to stay on the Lake View (Mackinaw Bridge not visible).  For our families these were the best sites because they are on the water with beach sand.   If you choose to stay on the side with the bridge view the shore line is rocky.    We stayed in sites 176-178 and all three were spacious.   Unfortunately, not full hook up but good for water and electric.   Another perk of staying in these sites is you are a short walk away from the bath houses (private and clean), the playground, pool, and camp store.  The camp store is one of the nicest I have been in.   It is stocked with all of your camping wants &amp; needs.  If you choose to visit Mackinaw Island there is a shuttle van (free) that comes to the campground and will transport you and your bikes to the ferry.  We had a wonderful stay at this campground and would definitely recommend the sites we stayed in and any on the beach front.   

Waterfront Gem

They gave us a bogus charge of 50$ several days after we left, for smoking in a cabin.  Myself, my wife and our 4 year old son do not smoke.  Never have never will.  The bogus charge is being disputed but that’s not the point.  Warning to others to find somewhere else to camp, at least if you’re renting a cabin.  What a scam operation.

Absolutely beautiful campground! Stayed there for a week and loved every minute of it. Very peaceful, big, and a beautiful lake view. Will be making this campground a stop every year now.

Friendly environment 

We’ve stayed at Mackinac Millcreek a few times. Awesome campground, definitely need to know the campground a little bit IF you’re planning on bringing a very large RV. But if not, call the office they’ll put you in a good spot. Our first time to the campground was pretty funny, the whole camp ground was sold out. But they squeezed us in by the rally building and apologized about it being by the maintenance area. Turn out to be one of the best spots we’ve camped. There was a lot of partying, so it was perfect for us. But the rest of the campground is pretty chill. 

Awesome location

Great camp ground  very well run.   Great camp store, if you forgot it they probably got it.    Build a fire in one of the many fire pits on the lake shore and watch the spectacular sun set and the bridge light up!   If we are ever back up this way we will stay again.

Great classic old camp ground

Huge campground in a wonderful location. They have everything here- huge playground, pool, beach, great store, lots to do.  The view of the lake from our site was spectacular.  There is a beautiful grassy and rocky shoreline that is lined with fire pits for viewing the sunset and bridge lights in the evening.  Very cool and communal in a good way.  You buy your ferry tickets to Mackinaw Island at the camp store and it's 10 minutes to get there with boats leaving every 30 minutes.  The island is amazing and worth a day of your life to ride around it on a bike and get some good food and fudge.

We stayed at site 155 with a rented RV, and wow—what an incredible experience! The park is absolutely massive, with plenty to explore and enjoy. One of the standout features was the camp store—easily one of the best I’ve ever been to. Super well-stocked, clean, and genuinely fun to browse.

Our site was just steps away from Lake Huron, so we got to enjoy swimming right from camp, which was such a bonus. We also took a scenic walk over to the bridge view side of the campground and were blown away by the views of the Mackinac Bridge.

This place has something for everyone—whether you’re relaxing by the water or adventuring around the grounds. Plus there is a pool! We’d absolutely stay here again. One tip: definitely bring your bike if you can! It makes exploring the park so much easier. But if you forget, no worries—they have rentals available on-site too.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a fun, scenic, and well-run campground experience in Northern Michigan!
