Reservations are available at Leelanau Pines Campground, a privately operated lakefront campground in Cedar, Michigan, open May 1 through October 15 with nightly rates running $103 to $130. Sites accommodate RVs up to 55 feet and include electric and water hookups, with a dump station on site. The campground sits directly on Lake Leelanau, and a number of sites have direct water views or lake access. Pets are welcome.
Water access is the defining feature here. The campground has a boat launch, a designated swim area with a sandy shoreline shallow enough to wade, and enough shoreline grass to stage kayaks before paddling out onto the lake. Multiple reviewers mention heading up into Victoria Creek by kayak, where shore birds and a duck blind make for an interesting paddle. The sites are fairly close together, and a good portion are occupied by seasonal campers, which gives the campground a settled, neighborhood feel rather than a wilderness one. Site 22, near the boat ramp, sees more foot traffic due to its proximity to the dog walk area.
Cleanliness is a consistent theme across reviews. Bathrooms and showers are cleaned multiple times daily during the season, and the grounds are well-maintained. Staff routinely meet arriving campers with golf carts to help with site navigation and leveling. The campground also has a laundry room, playground, small camp store, and WiFi. Rocky's Woods and Paradise Cove Campground are nearby alternatives on the same peninsula. As Red puts it: "Very quiet park with lake access campsites." Sleeping Bear Dunes, Suttons Bay, and several Leelanau Peninsula wineries are all within easy driving distance, making this a workable base for exploring the region.
