Nestled in the rolling prairie and cropland covered hills of western Kansas, Sheridan State Fishing Lake provides a serene getaway for camping, fishing, and picnicking or just simply relaxing.
The area is located 12 miles east of Hoxie, just one mile north of Highway 24. The lake covers 60 acres and is surrounded by 188 acres of timber and native grass wildlife area.
There is no charge for camping. You may camp for up to 7 consecutive days. Designated sites provide primitive camping near the shoreline with plenty of trees for shade. Picnic tables and fire rings are located at many of the sites. The Department asks that any fires be contained in the provided metal fire rings and to never leave a fire unsupervised. Modern vault toilets are centrally located on both the east and west sides of the lake.

The Page Creek Area of Cedar Bluff State Park encompasses nearly 900 acres along the south shore of the reservoir, and although it is not as developed as the Bluffton Area it provides some wonderful camping opportunities. With its sandy shorelines and large shade trees this area provides some of the nicest primitive camping areas in the state. Many boating enthusiasts prefer this area because they are able to moore their boat along the sandy shore just below the campsite. Swimming is available nearly everywhere, there are two showerhouse facilities, a large community shelter, three boat launching facilities, two vault toilets, numerous shelters and picnic shades, two dumpstations, two utility campgrounds and a newly developed hiking and biking trail.

Last minute reservation easily accommodated. Beautiful and super clean. Amazing bathhouse and coffee house. Cabins also available for rent. One of the nicest rv parks we’ve stayed in.

Super flat landscape, very short walking trail, main attraction is fishing, less wildlife than I expected. Quite a few campsites to choose from, some with more trees than others. We chose a primitive one. Also some new modern cabins. Ok place to stop over, I wouldn’t return but others seemed happy with it. And yes, you will definitely see prairie dogs :)

Quintessential plains of Kansas. Pure beauty as far as the eye can see. Blue water. Generously spaced and well maintained sites, though a lot of them have limited shade. Not an issue in April. Beautiful views with brilliant sunsets over the water. In early April, there were only a handful of other campers. Only 1 small shower house was open, but it was warm and clean. The swimming beach is large and looked clean. There is new looking playground equipment. The most precious thing I have seen, Pa's Lake. It's a little lake built for disabled and youths to fish in. They even have a giant fishing pole and the bobber is a light. There are cabins with great views. Plenty of day use areas, a large boat launch with a dock, so you don't have to pull your boat out in the evenings. I had hoped to paddle board to the cliffs, but 30 mph winds nixed that. If you want dark skies and solitude, this is the place. There is one small store just outside the entrance. Other than that, Hayes is the closest town, 30 min. by dirt road or 40 by interstate. The rangers were really helpful. I would definitely recommend.

I've been here twice now. Once in July and now at the very end of Oct. Better in Oct. No ticks or bugs and frankly of all the camping locations, there is a number of different choices, I had my section to myself. This place has swimming, a small hike, your choice of camping location, a frisbee golf course and miles one could hike or bike. I think it is kind of a jewel in the Kansas system.

We stayed here as it was right in the middle between Kansas City and Denver where we were headed. Looks like everyone that stayed the night had the same thought. When we arrived in the evening, the campsite was full and every space was taken. When we woke up the in the morning, the campsite was empty as all the RVs had cleared out to be on their way. It was a comfortable stay right on the highway to Denver so easy access to be on our way out.
GuideFirst time in Kansas, had a quick one night stop during our road trip. This was a gorgeous lake tucked not far from the highway. The tent only sites were totally empty and we were the only ones in the loop. Gorgeous view, just up the bank from a small beach. Self check in was easy and the bathrooms were clean. Only complaint is that it got very buggy at night, but that's what you get for a spot so close to the water. I'd definitely come back again!

Nice little spot in beautiful NW Kansas. Conveniently located on the intersection of Hwy 83 and Hwy 36. Like everyone in this town, the owners are helpful and friendly. Full hookups available in all (6 or 7 total) RV spots. Back in only in all but end spot, with relatively level gravel pads. There is a gazebo on site with seating, and a fire pit and barbecue. It's open for all guests, including motel guests. I give 4 stars because of 2 drawbacks. Hotel WiFi is hit and miss, and the RV spots are small. We couldn't put out our awning without invading the neighbors. But good value for the money ($30/night). I recommend. Oh and do yourself a favor, go downtown and get the best pizza ever at the ReLoad Bar and Grill.

ScoutThe bugs here weren't bad at all. Lots of bird sounds and coyotes in the evening. Plenty of cows nearby to add to the nature sounds. Some level sites for tent camping. Very windy during our stay. Overall a nice place to stay!

TravelerPulled in at 2am on Tuesday on our drive from Colorado to Vermont. Didn’t see a living soul from then till we left at 9am. I’d avoid the first loop because there’s a pretty loud generator sound. Other than that pretty nice and not too buggy.
TravelerWe got here very late, and the place was empty. There was a stack of firewood next to the forepit, and the tent site was very even. Weather was gorgeous, and we didn't mind the mooing cows in the distance. There was a picnic table, and though the road was a bit rough on the minivan, it was a well maintained campsite.

GuideOur young family of six stayed for 2 nights during our cross country drive and wow what a welcome respite it was from driving! My kiddos LOVED the pool. We spent the entire day lounging and enjoying the basketball court, corn hole, park, ice cream social, and of course, the swimming pool! We stayed in site 4 which was super accessible, complete with picnic table and full hookups. I was really happy with the cleanliness of the park in general including the laundry facility, bathrooms, grounds, and shop. The laundry facility was very well priced and very efficient. The owners were incredibly kind and welcoming and obviously take pride in this campground. We would be happy to stay again if we are ever in the area again! Highly recommend!
GuideAfter our first night this felt like the Hilton, ok maybe the Hilton Garden Inn. We were greeted by two young men and taken to our site. The lobby, bathrooms and shower were immaculate. They even have an ice cream social and fresh baked good in the morning.
GuideWhile there isn't much to do in the area, it is a great spot to stop for a day. Safe, well kept, and lots of amenities. Basketball, cornhole, swimming pool, playground, FREE COFFEE, clean shower facilities, and a beautiful view of the rolling plains.
The owners go above and beyond to make sure their guests are taken care of. We were tent camping and as we were driving in, they sent us a message to warn us about rain. During the storm the internet went out, so the next morning they gave everyone a free bag of ice.

TravelerI have stayed at this KOA twice on my way home from Rocky Mountain National Park. The park is right off I-70, the sites are all pull through and level so you don’t have to unhook - just pull in and relax. The staff is very friendly, the dog park is big and clean, and you can get a homemade grab-and-go breakfast on your way out the next morning.
