If you find yourself heading east– west on I80 through NW Illinois and come across the small township of Geneseo looking for a nice and EZ layover, then think no further. This medium-sized Walmart is relatively new with ample space to park on what looks to be freshly poured asphalt that is incredibly level. In all, there’s 6 lanes offering parking on either side and when we stopped by on a Sunday during what should have been prime time shopping, the place was more than half empty. While this piece of pavement does sit a bit too close to I80, we really didn’t notice much noise at all when we stopped by. Inside the low cost retailer you’ll find just about everything you need, but if you are looking to load up on other supplies, just across the street is a very nice Hyvee grocery store and there’s other restaurants up and down South Oakwood Avenue in addition to 2 gas stations located right near this Walmart. IMHO the best spots are those that are located on the property’s northernmost flank as this will put you as far away from inbound store traffic as well as furthest from I80.
