You’ll likely either be heading east-west on Highway 34 hightailing it to or away from Chicago, or perhaps shooting northwards on nearby Route 47 near this particular Home Depot, where within a stone’s throw there’s a flat piece of pavement that might just be beckoning you. Upon arrival, you’ll notice that this retail outpost is part of a much bigger shopping complex, but you’ll appreciate that this configuration places Home Depot for away from the other mayhem and creates what seems like its very own carved out space with plenty-o-parking for your overnight stationary enjoyment.
While you’ll find yourself here on the edge of Yorkville, which is a sprawling far western suburb of The Windy City, the kind of which there are is nothing but an endless array of retail strip malls lining every which way you go throughout this maze-like residential community you are trekking through, you’ll find that the traffic in and out of here isn’t too bad. As this retail location is also part of a bigger shopping complex, you’ll also appreciate that there’s built-in security here with very decent nighttime lighting and mall cops strolling by throughout the night, ratcheting up that safety & security score. And because this Home Depot sits almost in isolation on the far eastern side of the shopping plaza, and far enough away from either of the aforementioned highways, there’s solid peace & quiet here.
This Home Depot is also either incredibly maintained or is brand-spanking new, so the facilities themselves are pretty ‘grade A’ offering up some very flat pavement for the night – although that’s not too terribly difficult to do here in the Prairie state. Add to this the fact that you will have no shortage of amenities and retail shopping completely surrounding you, but far enough where you won’t be caught up in the retail circus, this particular retail parking lot is quite a find. Just due north and east of this location you’ll be surrounded by a residential community which will add to the ‘at home’ vibe.
Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) Should you be RV'ing with your four-legged friends entowe, you’re in luck as just due north of here is Cannonball Ridge Park, which is great for just a short stretch, but if you’re looking for something with a bit more strenuous challenge to it, then hop on the Cannonball Trail, which you can jog, hike or bike for several miles; (2) When you grow tired of trying to conjure up that next meal from the remains of what is in your onboard mini-fridge or you just want to try out some local fare, then nearby you’ll have access to a handful of EZ drive-by fast food stops like Pizza Hut, Popeyes, Subway, Wendy’s and Papa John’s as well as fast-casual joints like Legends Grill & Bar, Hacienda Real, Wings, Etc. and Salsa Verde, but if you want some serious 'scrumptulicious' eateries, then head on over to Craft’d, Burnt Barrel Social or Grace Coffee & Wine for something truly off the beaten path; and (4) If you are looking for something truly unique and have kids along with you, then head due north on Highway 47 for some family-friendly fun at Sugar Grove Family Fun Center offering up go-karts, bumper boats and mini-golf.
