Fishing enthusiasts will find direct access to Rend Lake's waters at North Sandusky Campground, a US Army Corps of Engineers facility in Sesser, Illinois. The campground accommodates RVs up to 90 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, plus a dump station for shorter stays.
Most sites back directly to the lake or adjacent woods, with many offering water views. Site configurations vary, with some level spots available among the generally sloped terrain. Mandi G. recommends bringing "binoculars for egrets and herons on the lake." Cell service reaches the campground, with both AT&T and T-Mobile providing sufficient signal strength for streaming and remote work from certain sites.
The campground provides flush toilets and allows both pets and campfires. Access options include drive-in, walk-in, hike-in, and boat-in, though some reviewers note rough road conditions. Fishing produces catches of catfish and crappie from the lake. The forested setting offers shade while maintaining lake proximity.
Reservations are available for the $18-26 nightly rate range. Those exploring the broader region can find campgrounds around Rend Lake for extended stays or alternative dates.
