Operated by the US Forest Service within Targhee National Forest, Big Elk Creek Campground runs from May through September with nightly rates between $10 and $40. Sites accommodate rigs up to 45 feet and electric hookups are available, making it a workable stop for RV travelers. Cell service is limited here. Jackson is roughly a 45-minute drive, which makes this a reasonable base for day trips into Wyoming. Palisades Reservoir sits a few miles south for campers interested in water access. The campground has multiple sites, some with a degree of separation from neighbors, and pets are welcome. A good fit for RV travelers and tent campers who want hookups without driving far into the backcountry.
