The campground sits on a concrete pad system just off the main road, offering level sites with covered picnic tables and basic amenities including drinking water and dump station access. Road noise from the highway provides a constant backdrop, though the river location and immediate access make it function well as an overnight stop for RV travelers.
Sites fill on a first-come basis, with the prime riverside spots featuring the most level concrete pads and covered areas. The setup resembles a rest area more than traditional dispersed camping, but the BLM management and river access distinguish it from highway stops. Twin Bridges Recreation Area Campground sits less than a mile north for campers wanting additional options along this stretch of the Salmon River corridor.
Description
This is a small developed site with shade, boat launch, and six campsites with tables and fire rings on the Lower Salmon River. BLM recreation sites attached to this stretch of river are Island Bar, Lucile, Old Lucile, Shorts Bar, Skookumchuck, White Bird, Hammer Creek and Pine Bar. Fee Info
Camping $10 per night per camper/$4 per additional vehicle not in tow per night. Camping only allowed at designated camp sites. Federal Interagency Access Pass provides for a 50% discount off the campsite fees.
