Free camping in Nezperce National Forest draws a range of campers to CCC Campground, a drive-in site managed by the US Forest Service outside Elk City, Idaho. The terrain is open, with proximity to both a river and a lake giving anglers and paddlers reason to consider it as a base. Toilets are on-site. Rackliff Campground sits about 1.3 miles east for those wanting a nearby alternative.
Description
CCC Campground rests alongside the Selway River and is a short drive from Fenn Ranger Station, where visitors may access travel information; and Fenn Pond, which is stocked with rainbow trout and has a wheelchair-accessible boardwalk and nature trail. The campground is equipped with a restroom and three campsites. For those who enjoy hiking and exploring, CCC Trail #734 is nearby, which loops north from the campground to Coolwater Road #317.
The campground is open year-round, but might not be accessible because of snow. Services such as restroom cleaning only offered during the summer season. Access may be limited seasonally due to snow.
You can plan a dayhike from this campground, mountain bike on nearby trails or plan a multiple day backpack.
