Remote and undeveloped, Blue Hole Dispersed sits within the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area on first-come, first-served sites that require no reservations or fees. The camping area shows signs of recent controlled burns, which reviewers note helps reduce undergrowth and makes firewood collection easier. A Georgia Lands Pass is required for overnight stays.
Most sites accommodate tents and smaller RVs, though only two locations feature picnic tables. The road access remains generally well-maintained, allowing 21-foot trailers to navigate to suitable spots. Campers report finding both tight sites for solo camping and larger areas that work for small groups. The designated camping zone sits separate from the Blue Hole spring itself, which draws day visitors to the area.
Wildlife encounters include non-venomous snakes, and tick presence increases during warmer months. "More wilderness, tight spots but sufficient, remote, and peaceful," notes Amber W.. The location provides access to nearby Ellison Cave trail and sits close enough to Cloudland Canyon State Park for day trips while avoiding that park's heavier crowds. Cell service reaches most camping areas, though no water, electricity, or restroom facilities exist on-site.
Campers should pack out all trash and come prepared for primitive conditions in this wildlife management area where alcohol is prohibited.
