Boat-in access only, with no road approach and no shortcuts: reaching Shark Point Chickee means paddling open water from Flamingo, a trip that can run three to four hours depending on conditions and tide. The platform sits within Everglades National Park, managed by the National Park Service, and requires a reservation. Toilets are the sole amenity. Low tide exposes mud banks along the route, so timing the paddle with the tide matters. Wildlife in the surrounding water includes sharks, dolphins, and alligators. Wind off the open water tends to keep insects down. Campers wanting a ground-level site with more shelter can look at Lard Can Wilderness Campground to the north.
