Fort Myers-Pine Island KOA

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Reservations are available year-round at this full-hookup KOA in St. James City, Florida, where sites accommodate RVs up to 50 feet with electric, water, and sewer connections. Getting here requires navigating Pine Island Road, and several reviewers flag that the lots are tight. Experienced drivers will manage, but those newer to maneuvering larger rigs may want to call ahead and request a more forgiving site. The campground sits on Pine Island, which has no beaches of its own, so campers planning beach days should factor in significant drive time: one reviewer noted the closest beach is roughly an hour away by car.

Cleanliness comes up repeatedly across reviews, and it's one of the campground's most consistent strengths. Amanda A. noted "clean showers and bathrooms," and the laundry room draws specific praise for being well-maintained. The property also has a pool, hot tub, clubhouse with ping pong, a dog park, and a playground. Most facilities close around 8 p.m., including the pool and office, so plan accordingly if you're arriving late or need supplies after dark.

Bugs are a real factor here. Mosquitoes and no-see-ums are mentioned in multiple reviews, and the no-see-ums in particular tend to drive people indoors once the sun starts to set. Bug spray is not optional. Cell service gets decent marks from reviewers, and the onsite WiFi is described as adequate, though not exceptional.

The campground skews toward longer-term and permanent residents, but short-term visitors report a friendly atmosphere. A grocery store is close by, which is useful for multi-night stays. Anglers and boaters will find more to do directly on Pine Island than those looking for surf and sand. Nearby alternatives worth knowing include Fort Myers / Pine Island KOA Holiday just down the road, Cherry Estates TT Park to the south, and Periwinkle Park for those who want to be closer to Sanibel. This campground works best for self-sufficient RV travelers who want full hookups and clean facilities as a base for exploring the broader Pine Island area.

Shellmound Campground

Located in Jasper, TN. This is a place to visit! Fair rates ($35/night) and great views. Friendly staff. Upkeep on bathrooms and showers. Very pleased with my stay here! The lot was a tight squeeze so if you’re not an experienced driver, you may want to request a different lot selection.

Citra Royal Palm RV Park

Well I called to reserve for the night. I was given a discounted $40 overnight rate. It seemed fair, but the conditions were underwhelming. I had to use the shower and bathrooms and frankly… it was a hole in the wall. The shower was literally just a hole in the wall! Had to walk carefully in the bathroom to avoid getting in contact with the disgusting conditions.

Its.. a nice place

It takes an hour to drive to the closest beach, Almost everything inside the campground closes 8pm including the pool and the office and the laundry. The spaces are very tight and there is some pretty strict rules that I was unfamiliar with, Including I couldn't put my little doggy fence up in the grass next to my camper. The man that came around in the golf cart with the rule book was a very horrible person. Aside from that everybody else was very nice and the campground is actually well kept and it is nice.

Super clean pool and helpful staff

One of the better maintained KOA campgrounds. Staff really cares and willing to do whatever it takes to help you have a great stay. There is even a hot tub! Grocery store nearby, which is really convenient. Good cell service and ok wifi. Have to drive to beach but so worth it! Super beaches and amazing water.

Fisherman's camp

This is an out of the way park. The map may show that it's close to Sanibel and Ft Meyers but it is not really by car. This place grows on you. Pine island has no beaches but does have a lot of fishing spots and great restaurants. The noseeums about did me in there. No one sits out once the sun starts to set. The pool closes at dusk. The laundry room is spotless and adjoins a wonderful library. This park has mostly permanent residents but the people are friendly. There is a nice dog park and playground.

Nice campground and facilities. The pool was awesome. EverythIng was clean. We had an issue with the breaker kicking. We ended up using the box for the next site, issues were done. Only down side ... no shade and the sand fleas were eating us up.
