Three riverside campsites along the Shepaug River provide different access options for overnight stays. Two sites require short hikes of half a mile and three-quarters of a mile respectively, while the third accommodates vehicle access. Each campsite sits directly next to the river and includes a designated fire pit with firewood provided by the association.
The sites maintain separation through wooded buffers of several hundred feet, offering privacy while still allowing distant communication between the closest two locations. A basic outhouse serves the first two sites, though the drive-in option lacks restroom facilities. Cell phone coverage remains unavailable at all locations. Reservations through the Steep Rock Association office are required for stays. Campers seeking state park amenities might consider Lake Waramaug State Park Campground to the northwest.
