Welcoming park in a great location

From the time we pulled into the campground,  full of grass with huge trees, we felt at home. We had a warm greeting and received a welcome gift with yummy treats and fresh eggs. We were led to our spot that backed up to a creek. There was a fire pit, fire wood, bbq, table and chair swing at the camp spot. Also included are free laundry facilities, movies on a big screen (popcorn included) and we were lucky enough to have a band play one day and a solo guitarist another. Scott goes out of his way to make you comfortable. It was raining when we were watching the band play, he brought us an umbrella to use, very thoughtful. We would recommend this place to everyone, dog friendly, kid friendly, with a play area for both. There are nice tent camping spots as well.

Wow!!! There is so much to say about this place. The best rv park I have ever been to.  Scott the ower was magnificent. From the welcome basket that had eggs coffee and banana nut bread, to the clean restrooms and showers. WOW. I can't stress this enough. That this place is great. They have 2 little dog parks. A basketball court. Lots of toys for the kids and adults to play with. The onsite Laundry was amazing, and free to use. We will definitely make this a must stay in the future.

A little piece of friendly heaven!

I can't say enough good things about this place. The mayor of Stoner, Colorado, Scott is a great host and very generous. The place is very well maintained and clean and looked after. They have RV spots right on the river, Stoner Creek! My Jeep camper was quite happy over in the tent sites. With free shore power, even at the tent sites. Free barbecue with utensils and propane, fire pits with free wood! Yes, free wood! A different welcome gift each time but usually with a dozen farm Fresh eggs here from his chickens. Plus coffee, usually banana bread , tin foil even lighter fluid to light the free wood for your campfire! At 30 bucks a night for a tent site with shore power and all of that it just almost seems too cheap.

With lots of really gorgeous, mature Noble fur trees, this spot is not only gorgeous but really well located above Dolores but below Rico to access so much of the natural Colorado landscape. I love it here! Tell your friends!

Scott is amazing!

Called Scott (the manager/owner) for a buddy of mine who is on the road for business but he is camping along the way. We knew he wouldn’t get to Durango before dark so my bud asked if I could get him into a campsite somewhere cause I have the Dyrt app. I saw this camp/RV spot and it looked cute, clean, and had good reviews. I took a chance and called, no one answered but the message provided an alternative number to call. I left a message and then called the alternate number. Still no answer so I left a message. Scott called back in a matter of minutes and said the office would be closed by the time my friend arrived but that he would look out for him. When my friend arrived Scott had set up a fire ring with wood for him, got it lit while my friend set up camp, Scott grabbed a bag of utensils and other necessities he thought might be needed as well. He also included a welcome bag with cookies, chips and other goodies. OI camp all the time and have never had this experience. It is so wonderful to know folks like this exist especially during the trying times our world is going through. If you ever read this Scott, thank you so much and I can’t wait to visit Durango bcs I will be camping at your spot for sure!

Loved it!

Driving in I got nervous. No service and the front office was closed so I wasn't sure how to check into my site. Everyone here was so friendly and helped me find the camp owner. The camp team is overly nice. They opened the store up for us super late. We are the only tent campers and the camp host Scott had an entire tent camping package for us to use while here. It had everything you could need tent camping and he gave us eggs, wood and bread they made here. He hooked up power so we could charge everything. There is get set up all over for kids. Each site has its own grill. The laudry room is free and amazing. Showers were nice. Wifi signal is so strong. Love this camp and highly recommend. Little noise from the road at night but worth it in my opinion. Nice shower rooms. Each site has been fitted with cool items. Some have porch heaters, pourch swings, tables. They went all out for thier guests.

Fantastic little place!

So, I had a grueling and stressful prior week of dispersed camping near Moab, when I finally gave in after arriving in this area really late one night and decided to try to find a spot in a regular campground. So, after seeing the website, I made a reservation online for the following two nights. I gots cheerful text the next morning asking approx when might be arriving, and, seriously, I’m not even exaggerating when I say, they greeted me like I was an old friend, like almost to me aback, because anymore, I’ve encountered more nonengauging or even downright rude people in the last few years as I had in my whole life, so, to find this idyllic gem was a blessing. the people that make it all happen are really cool. the genuine kindness and hospitality the entire staff showed me was unexpected and beyond spectacular! They offer, for free, Wi-Fi, clean, hot showers, laundry, and even gas grills with propane, hell, they even put a stack of split wood at every campsite and have small contained pits at each as well. There are so many little thoughtful details that this weary traveler didn’t overlook, and I bet any one that stops there would also notice the heart that this owner and his staff have poured into the property and I can honestly say that they were all the nicest people I met this trip, and not only will I tell all my traveling friends and anyone else who wants to hear about it just how nice and caring the whole crew is and I will absolutely stop there anytime I’m in that area! There is zero cell signal in the area, but I was able to use the Wi-Fi fine and made Wi-Fi calls so that was cool!

Peaceful Landing

I had started my travels in the same area 31 years ago. I finally returned to same place, but different this time. The tranquility you find here is restful, quiet, all the amenities to comfort ones soul. Mtns 360 , Stoner creek sounds in the back ground with birds singing. Only one question you must ask yourself     Can I find time?)  I did...

A Gem in the Mountains-A new renovation of an 1888 outpost on Stoner Creek

We prefer off the beaten path and when we rolled into Dolores, CO in our van late on the 25th of October we were happy to find Stoner on Dyrt, about 20 minutes outside town. Owner Scott greeted us with a dozen eggs from his hens, brought us wood for our fire and agreed to sit and share his story with us. It was perfect and we woke to more perfection...snow!

He is upgrading and renovating this pocket of green on Stoner Creek with electric and water, a fire pit and an upscale BBQ grill at each site, with fairy lights along the stream, a clean and warm bathhouse and...free use of new laundry facilities! Add a menagerie of ducks, hens and turkeys for $25 a night and we decided to stay an extra day.

It's across the highway from the iconic, privately owned Stoner Ranch, a landmark in the Dolores River Valley. And Scott is determined to fulfill a dream of his by renovating this nearly 140 year old landmark, adding a camp store and amenities.

Come summer, it will probably be full again with kids and dogs in the central "play" area. But for us, off season, it was a perfect place to land thanks to Dyrt.

Site10, though in Oct we'd opt for 8 and get morning sunshine

Absolutely Amazing

We placed a reservation online not knowing they weren’t open yet due to a late snowfall. We arrived late in the afternoon and Scott and Jennifer immediately set us up at a prime river front spot! They brought us a very nice grill and the coolest fire pit I’ve ever seen! All this when they could have just cancelled us. All the while they’re still working trying to get their season started. The hookups were all brand new, no electric bugs good pressure. In a gorgeous valley. But the hosts make this park! Well done Scott and Jennifer!
