Parachute Hill Road

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Dispersed camping along Parachute Hill Road draws off-road enthusiasts into Roosevelt National Forest, but the site doubles as an active OHV corridor. Spots fill fast on summer weekends; one camper arrived at 2 pm on a Friday and had choices, but by 8 pm every site was taken. Saturday brought near-constant side-by-side, quad, and dirt bike traffic from 10 am to 6 pm, with fine dust settling over gear. Four-wheel drive and solid clearance are necessary to reach the better sites. Campers sensitive to noise and dust may want to look at places to camp near Allenspark or nearby Olive Ridge for a quieter setup. This site suits those who came specifically for OHV recreation.

Nice spot despite the traffic

Stayed two nights. Got there around 2 pm on Friday and had our pick of spots. By 8 pm all spots were taken. Saturday there was near constant side-by-side, quad, and dirt bike traffic starting at 10 am and lasting until 6 pm. Due to the high traffic the dust was very fine and covered everything. Most of the drivers were courteous but some drove very aggressively with music blasting. Some off-roading stragglers were out until about 9 pm.
