Lizard Head Pass Trailhead Overnight — Uncompahgre NF

Description

Lizard Head Pass sits at roughly 10,200 feet in the San Juan Mountains, where Uncompahgre National Forest straddles a high alpine divide flanked by dramatic peaks and the trailhead for the Lizard Head Wilderness. The trailhead parking area — a paved lower level and a graveled upper level — serves as an informal overnight stop for self-contained rigs and vans, with highway traffic fading to quiet after dark. Pit toilets are on-site; no water and no cell service are available, and the trailhead provides direct access to a scenic multi-mile hiking route into the surrounding high country.
