Description
The high alpine country above 10,600 feet in the San Juan National Forest opens up near Molas Pass, where a cluster of dispersed sites sits just off FR 680 with sweeping views of surrounding peaks and Molas Lake visible to the east. Several informal sites are spread across the area — not so close together as to feel crowded — reached via the left fork of the track, which is manageable for standard high-clearance vehicles (the right fork demands 4x4). Road noise from the nearby highway carries through during the day, but the high-country setting and proximity to the Molas Trail network make it a compelling base for exploring this corner of the San Juans.
