The campground sits in an open, low-tree environment, which means coastal wind is a real factor, especially at exposed sites like number 25. Dogs are allowed on the beach, and the walk from camp to the water is manageable, though the overgrown trail has drawn tick warnings from visitors who recommend sticking to the paved road instead.
Site quality here is uneven. Several reviewers note that many sites are not level, and spacing between neighbors is closer than it looks on a map. Tent campers tend to fare better than RV users in this layout, as the tighter arrangements and unlevel ground make maneuvering larger rigs a challenge despite the listed 31-foot maximum. Cell service is limited at the campground itself, though reception reportedly improves on the beach. The Sunset Group Area is located nearby for larger parties, and Pines Hollow and Dunes Camp (Sites 38-90) provides an alternative section of the same park with a different site configuration.
Facilities are dated but consistently described as well-maintained. As Elizabeth S. puts it: "Old but clean bathrooms with coin showers." Showers run on quarters at $0.25 per minute. Water is available close to sites, and campfires are permitted. There is no dump station on site. This campground works best for tent campers or those in smaller rigs who prioritize beach access over site comfort and do not need reliable cell coverage.

From April 1st to October 31st, due to high volume and lack of parking availability for larger camping vehicles, early arrivals may be subject to additional parking fees of $10 per parking space occupied. Parking for early arrivals will only be available at Seacliff (Upper day use lot) or Manresa Main State Beaches depending on availability. These fees are non-transferable and non-refundable.
Modification Policy : If you need to change your arrival/departure date and/or site, you must call ReserveCalifornia at 1-800-444-7275 or log into ReserveCalifornia.com by 6 p.m. the day before arrival. Visitors will be charged a modification fee per reserved campsite for change in dates, sites, parks, extending or shortening stay requests. Two modifications may be made to an existing reservation. The park does not handle modifications to reservations.
