Mount San Jacinto State Park's Strawberry Junction sits at the intersection of the Deer Springs Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail, making it a natural stop for through-hikers and day-trip extensions alike. Only three or four dispersed sites are available, each marked with small signs. Reservations are strongly recommended. An outhouse serves the upper end of the camp. No pets are permitted, and all access is on foot. Campers planning a trip through campgrounds near Idyllwild-Pine Cove can also check the state park office in town for walk-up availability. Tamarack Valley Campground — Mount San Jacinto State Park is another hike-in option within the park for those who need more space.
