Quiet on weekdays, noticeably busier when OHV riders arrive on weekends, Poleta OHV Upper Staging Area sits on BLM land east of Bishop and requires 4WD to reach many of the hillside areas. The site is free and dispersed, with port-a-johns on-site. T-Mobile users have reported full cell coverage here. Campers wanting a developed alternative nearby can consider Brownstown Campground to the west.
Description
Poleta OHV area includes short trails and single tracks as well as a dirt bowl. Shooting sports are prohibited in the developed day use area.
Dispersed camping is permitted.
