Description
Sequoia National Forest's lower Kern Canyon cuts a deep river corridor through chaparral and granite at around 700 feet elevation, and Kern Canyon Road runs its length past a string of roadside pullouts that serve as a free overnight alternative when the developed campgrounds are closed or simply not worth the fee. Miracle Hot Springs sits less than half a mile east, making the pullouts a natural base for visitors drawn to the area's geothermal draws. Space ranges from compact to large enough for big rigs, so it's worth driving a short stretch to find a fit.
