A steep road leads up to Hidden Knoll Farm Glamping, a private-land glamping operation outside Middletown in Lake County's Mayacamas foothills. One reviewer noted that a 24-foot Sprinter made it up without issue, but the grade is worth knowing about before arrival. Sites include a picnic table and a stone campfire ring, with views across the valley toward the Mayacamas mountain range and the Geysers visible in the distance.
The farm atmosphere sets this place apart. Chickens roam the property, eggs are available for purchase, and host Bertrand has been known to make guests a cappuccino. A shared camp kitchen under a shade pergola near the house includes a refrigerator, dishwashing sink, and coffee setup. There is also a small splash pool and a galvanized soaking tub for two, positioned to face the valley, with an on-demand hot water heater beside it. Deer have been spotted grazing in the oak forest below the sites. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed around the chickens.
Nightly rates run $45 to $75, with electric and water hookups available for RVs. WiFi is on-site. As one guest put it, "the view from the bathtub at night was the closest I've felt to actually being inside the sky." Harbin Hot Springs, which does not allow dogs, is a short drive west, making Hidden Knoll a practical base for pet owners visiting the area. Huttopia Wine Country sits a few miles north for campers wanting a different setup.
