Alder Creek Camp

Alder Creek Camp offers primitive camping with very basic amenities. The site has rustic toilet facilities, though their condition has deteriorated in recent years. Alder Creek Camp is located approximately 8 miles off Highway 1 in the Big Sur area of California. The campground requires traveling down an unpaved forest road that branches off from the main coastal highway. The remote setting places you deep within the forested area of Big Sur, away from the coastal views but offering a more secluded camping experience. Four-wheel drive vehicles are highly recommended for accessing this campground due to the road conditions.

Alder Creek Camp typically operates on a first-come, first-served basis without a formal reservation system. Due to its remote location and the challenging access road, the campground doesn't generally fill up quickly. However, it's always wise to have a backup plan, especially during peak seasons.
