Pretty to look at, dirty bath houses

Spacious sites, also has horse camp. Electricity. Racoon issues not under control. Dumpsters near bathroom contained racoons that also went into folks' camps. No cell signal. Bathrooms woefully neglected as far as cleanliness. Old is one thing, but nasty is another.

      Nice Campsite, great fishing

We enjoyed this campsite. I think some of the sites are farther from the lake, but we were in 46 and it was super convenient. We enjoyed some good fishing

      Great family vacation campground

One of the largest campgrounds in the state. weekends fill up fast with local families, enjoying the campground with their kids and dogs. Lots of bike riding trails as well as trails for people that bring their horses for the horse camp section. Sites are fairly close together. Camp is well maintained and has a great visitors center with friendly staff.

      Quiet and Relaxing

This place is very beautiful and DEEP into to woods. The sites are very spread out with privacy though and we loved that!

We arrived after hours and our site had a pamphlet with our name and some basic information for our stay.

In the morning, the spot was very beautiful and tucked away in the woods with visibility to the lake down the hill.

It rained briefly and our spot was down a slight hill so there was a bit of concern with puddling, but there was proper drainage and the site didn’t puddle as much as we would’ve thought! The site was very leveled!

We lost service about 5/10 minutes out from the park with Verizon so if there are things you need to search before do that!

When we left we stopped by the visitor center that had a pretty wide range of things to do with a gift store. The staff and rangers were very nice!

      We would visit again!

      Village Creek State Park Campground

      Really nice, quiet CG

We have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 50 for 1 night in mid September. The CG is clean, well maintained. The CG roads are paved, as are the sites. The sites themselves all seemed pretty level. The CG was very quiet and peaceful and about half full while we were there. Our site, 50, was a pull-through, as were several, but most were back in. There is some shade depending on the site. The bathhouses are showing their age a bit.

AT&T coverage was basically nonexistent with 1 bar of 5GE service but 0 MB/s of throughput. We had a clear view to the N at the site, so Starlink was fine with speeds up to 13 MB/s.

      Good rest for weary travelers!

Arrived after hours to Campsite area A (sites 1-41). Note: reservation app does was not allow same day reservations, so find "available" site and pay at kiosk at visitor center. Hard to see park at night but in the morning found clean restrooms and shower --a happy find. Park offers nice large sites for tent and RVs with power, water, picnic table & fire rings. Really nice campgrounds with golf and equestrian facilities near by.

      4th of July Trip

Really enjoyed this trip on 4th of July weekend!! Stayed at site 43 which is close to the swim beach and the bathrooms are very close. They have a really nice visitor center too. Just make sure to have bug spray. Mosquitoes get bad at night and ticks were pretty active. Overall, it’s a great State Park!!!!

      Beautiful Park - Friendly Staff

I called ahead and arrived after hours. It was as easy as it gets. They said to just pick an open site and register in the am. I had a lake front site, with a nice fire pit and picnic table and grill setup.

The next morning I registered / paid $44.00 for the night. Super friendly staff. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    Guide to Harrisburg

Village Creek State Park offers equestrian camping opportunities near Harrisburg, Arkansas, approximately 20 miles west of Wynne. The park features three distinct camping areas spread across its nearly 7,000-acre landscape situated on Crowley's Ridge, a unique geological formation with soil composition different from surrounding Delta lowlands. Seasonal conditions vary significantly with hot, humid summers requiring insect protection and mild winters that allow for year-round trail access.

    What to do

Explore unique trails: Village Creek State Park provides access to a well-preserved section of the Trail of Tears, combining historical significance with natural beauty. "The trails at Village Creek were BEAUTIFUL. There is a particularly stunning trail that includes one of the most well-preserved sections of the Trail of Tears," notes Laura G., who appreciated the educational value for her family.

Fishing opportunities: The park contains two small lakes popular with anglers looking for productive fishing spots. "The lakes have produced state record fish. It's well maintained, and has a lot of options," shares Jonathan C., who also mentions the park is typically "not very heavily populated, even by the locals."

Golf at the course: Village Creek offers a championship golf course for visitors wanting to mix outdoor recreation with camping. "There are 3 camping areas, two lakes, and a gorgeous golf course!" exclaims Linda A., highlighting one of the park's distinctive recreational amenities.

    What campers like

Proximity to urban areas: Horse campgrounds near Harrisburg, Arkansas benefit from relative seclusion while maintaining accessibility to nearby cities. "Only an hour from Memphis, this campground is VERY nice - three camping areas, two lakes with boat rentals, 6 cabins, and a gorgeous 27 hole golf course," mentions Linda A. about Village Creek State Park.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently note the well-maintained bathrooms and general upkeep throughout the park. "The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly and the area feels safe. There is a dump station as she exit each Campground loop," writes Teresa M., who also appreciated the flat RV sites with water and electricity.

Spacious campsites: The B loop at Village Creek State Park receives particular praise for site size and spacing. "We stayed 4 nights in the B loop FHU area. The sites there are large, and spaced out pretty well," reports Bob M., who added that "the golf course here is really nice, hiking trails good as well."

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Summer heat can impact camping enjoyment in this region. "Wish we weren't staying in a tent and would have come at a cooler part of the year. Was too hot to do anything at the beginning of July. Ended up leaving early," shares Kali D., suggesting visitors consider timing carefully.

Connectivity limitations: Cell service can be unreliable in certain areas, though options exist for staying connected. "We had no signal on ATT but there is free WIFI by the office which you can connect to day or night," explains Teresa M., providing useful information for those needing to maintain communication.

Park management presence: Some campers note frequent staff interactions during their stay. "I was a little annoyed by the park staff. They came by at least 15 times each day, checking tags, checking fire pits, checking pets, etc. I get it, but it kind of ruins the whole experience," reports Holly C., describing her experience with park monitoring.

    Tips for camping with families

Choose the right loop: Different camping loops offer varying proximity to trails and activities. "If you stay in the B loop, you're about a two mile hike to the hiking trails fyi. The A loop is much closer to that," advises Bob M., providing practical information for families planning hikes with children.

Visit the horse facilities: Even if not staying in the equestrian area, families can enjoy viewing the horse facilities. "Horse camping complete with covered stall area and trail. Camp sites are spacious and bath houses co located," describes Shelly S., highlighting features families might enjoy exploring.
