About
National Forest
There are several notable dispersed camping areas, listed below. Some allow open camping, while others allow camping only in designated campsites. Help keep these areas open and accessible to everyone: follow the rules listed on the Motor Vehicle Use Map when driving in the forest (essentially, cross-country travel in a motorized vehicle is prohibited), and always drown campfires out cold to the touch.

Always a great time
The rim road area is easily one of my favorite in the state. You have access to multiple lakes that you may fish out of and plenty of campsites. The grounds nearest the lakes fill up quick (as expected), but still easy access to the lakes and Ive never seen a parking lot completely full at all. On the other hand if you want a more secluded site, just keep driving down the fireroads. They go all over and you'll have a blast just exploring them. The monsoon season is a highlight. Being in those storms on the rim is an experience.
