Reaching Long Lake requires 17 miles of dirt road from the highway, with the final 7 miles rough enough to warrant a lifted or high-clearance vehicle. Free and managed by the US Forest Service within Coconino National Forest, the site has four camping areas near the lake, two with boat ramps, vault toilets, and fire pits. No water or trash service is provided. Pack in, pack out. Anglers and paddlers looking at dispersed camping around Coconino National Forest will find this one of the more remote options in the region. Elks Group Campground is a nearby alternative for those wanting more developed facilities.
