Very clean

Each site is raked and ready to go. Ice and wood can be bought there. They keep the restrooms very clean and stocked with toliet paper and hand sanitizer.

Nice campground in the forest

Pros - beautiful spot in the forest with nice sunsets, lots of shade from trees, small but well spaced, right across the road from the lake, short drive into Flagstaff, clean pit toilet, each site has picnic table and fire ring

Cons - no sink in the bathroom, leash rule was not followed nor enforced by campground host

Lake view, but not lake side

This is a nice, clean campground in the pines. Most sites have plenty of shade. Each campsite has a metal fire ring with cooking grill. The bathroom is a pit toilet and there is no sink for hand washing. There is a potable water spigot near the bathroom. It is a bit of a hike downhill and across the highway to the lake. Lake Mary is beautiful and great for kayaks.

Great Camping Experience

I camped for two days at this beautiful campground. It was very tidy, easy to get to, and surrounded by beautiful tall trees and friendly neighbors. It is right next to Lake Mary which you have access to from the campground on a short path. The campground was well kept and so were the bathrooms. Plenty of toilet paper for all. I was right by the bathrooms as well and couldn’t hear or smell anything coming from that way. They also have water to fill your wash bins, etc. The hosts were extremely nice. They came around every so often to see if anyone needed wood or ice and they would bring it to your site on their golf cart. The site was a decent size. The common area was the biggest part. The tent section was on the smaller side, it fit both of our tents fine, but do keep that in mind if you are camping with multiple people. Some of the other sites had bigger tent sections than ours. You can see your neighbors, which I don’t mind, but if you are someone who is needing more privacy and don’t want to be near people, this campground probably isn’t for you. The only complaint that I had was that you could hear the highway traffic at times. It wasn’t too loud but I prefer not to hear any traffic while camping. Overall, I really enjoyed my time at this campground and I would definitely come back again! Thank you Norm for being a wonderful host!

Love it and hosts are friendly. Well cleaning bathroom. Wate to use. Walk trail to make Mary for swim. Beautiful. Skunk was spotted at night! We ll be back!

Nice and quiet

Wanted to get away from the heat and it was amazing. This year they did reservations and the other half FF. We got a very nice site tucked away from everyone. Was a tent only site. Super quiet and could see the stars!

nice campground but expensive

for a distanced campground, it’s probably just easier to go disperse camp own the road! $24 is expensive when you’re just setting up a tent and can’t make a fire.

Amazing!!!

This site was amazing and the host were so nice!! It was one of the quietest camps sites we been to in awhile and close to the lake and town.

Awesome campground set in tall pines. Has bathrooms and drinking water but no showers which we knew in advance. We did a walk in site. We stayed in site 27 which was big enough for my large family tent and canopy plus we were able to park close to our site. We were walking distance to the lake which had plenty of shore fishing.

Very clean

Nice campground. It is dry camp, no hookups, showers. Great view of the lake depending on campsite. We had a nice time. The downside is you can’t make reservations, so arrive early. There always a possibility you may not get a spot. While a nice campground, we prefer the comfort of knowing we have a reservation, as vacations for us are limited. Dog friendly is a plus for us!

A forest getaway

Beautifully situated campground. Plenty of shade. Clean bathrooms. Wonderful nature trails! There is a walking path that leads under the highway to the lake, so you don't have to play Frogger to get to the water. The camp hosts were wonderful and completely on top of their game (seriously, these were the cleanest bathrooms I have ever seen at a national park)!!!!!!

It was chilly. It got down to 29° the first night we were there. It had snowed recently and there was still snow on a neighboring mountain peak. The UV indeed is really high in this area. Even though it's cold, don't forget your sunscreen.

Camp hosts have firewood and Ice for sale. Lake Mary Country Store is a few miles north of the campground, right off the highway. Flagstaff is about 20 minutes away.

Nice respite from the Sonoran Desert heat

In the off season, this sweet little national forest campground is a quiet oasis in one of the beautiful “islands of the sky” which are scattered throughout Arizona. Up at 5000 feet, this place becomes a busy retreat for Tucsonians seeking to escape some of the summertime heat, according to the park ranger we spoke too. It's also a haven for birds!

The campground has designated section for RV’s and tents, though they are same price at just $10 per night. Many pull-through sites are available for larger RV’s, as well as some back in spots. Each site has a HUGE cement picnic table and fire ring and are a nice size with plenty of space between sites. There are trash cans (though no recycling) throughout the campground, and a water spigot near the very clean pit toilets, thanks to the dedicated and very friendly camp hosts. The tent sites overlook the Parker Canyon Lake and are quite spacious. There are few tent sites for groups too.

There is a nice boat dock, as well as small store near the water that sells snacks/drinks, bait, and a few camping necessities. You can rent kayaks, paddle boats, SUPs, sailboats and small motorized fishing boats…or bring your own. There is also a nice and easy trail that follows the lake shore for about 6 miles, accessible to both hikers and mountain bikers. From the lake trail, you can also access the Arizona Scenic Trail (the southern terminus is about 15 miles south of the lake). We also saw quite a few fisherman out enjoying the lake during mid-week.

The closest grocery stores and gas stations are in Sonoita, about 30 miles away. Cell coverage is limited here as you are very close to the Mexican border – none in RV campground, just a bit of coverage in the tent campground.

Older, small campground with hillside views of lake Mary and huge trees

This is a nice option for those looking to camp near the lake! It is fairly hidden, but across the road from lake access. Smaller camp sites, but beautiful trees everywhere
