Forest Road 618 cuts through the high desert scrub of Coconino National Forest south of AZ 260, offering a string of pull-offs spread across several miles of washboarded dirt road. The terrain climbs to open hillside positions with long views toward Cactus Mountain and a wide sunset-to-sunrise sky. Established fire rings dot the roadside sites, and the road surface — firm and rocky — handles large rigs without trouble, though the washboard warrants a measured pace.
