Managed by the Alabama Forestry Commission, Weogufka State Forest Backcountry Site 1 sits near the southern terminus of the Pinhoti Trail, making it a practical stop for late-starting hikers rather than a destination in itself. The site is built on a platform where an old structure once stood, with the original fireplace still intact and metal rings on the platform for attaching a rain fly. No water source is on-site. Campers need to carry water in or hike to a nearby stream to fill up. Weogufka Creek Shelter is 0.4 miles east and may be a better fit for those who find this site occupied.
