Within Cheaha State Park, this dispersed hike-in campground sits along the Pinhoti Trail system, managed by Alabama's state parks division. The site requires hiking access and offers no fees for overnight stays. Previous backpackers have established a fire ring and constructed a makeshift wooden bench for gear organization.
The camping spot sits slightly off the main trail down a small, easily missed path that becomes overgrown during summer months. Water sources are not immediately available at the site itself, requiring hikers to fill containers at streams encountered earlier on the trail or continue further to additional water access points. The Upper Improved Campground — Cheaha State Park provides a developed alternative less than a mile away for campers preferring established facilities.
